IMD downgrades monsoon forecast to 90%; 60% chance of deficiency

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has lowered its monsoon forecast to 90% of the long-period average. There is now a 60% probability of a deficient monsoon season as the El Nino phenomenon casts a shadow over rainfall expectations across the country.
