IMD predicts 60% chance of deficient monsoon due to El Nino

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has downgraded its rainfall forecast to 90% of the long-period average. There is now a 60% probability of a deficient monsoon season as the El Nino phenomenon threatens to suppress rainfall across the country.
