7 million unsold oysters repurposed for reef restoration and job protection

The Supporting Oyster Aquaculture and Restoration program has purchased 7 million surplus oysters from farms affected by pandemic-related restaurant closures. These oysters are being deployed across 35 reef sites to restore vital marine habitats. This initiative successfully promotes ecological health while providing essential financial support to over 1,000 local fishery jobs.
