India's defence production reached a record Rs 1.78 lakh crore in the 2025-26 fiscal year, a 15.6% increase over the previous year. The output has nearly quadrupled since 2013-14, reflecting the country's push for self‑reliance and a stronger industrial base. Private sector participation also rose to an all‑time high, boosting defence exports and signalling deeper commercial involvement in the sector.
