Community guidelines
Short2News is where people find out what is happening around them, ask for help and share what they saw. These rules keep it useful and safe. They apply to everything you post: community posts, comments, Shorts, captions, news tips, profiles and AI creations.
Post what is true, and say where it came from
- Report what you saw or know. If you are passing on something you heard, say so.
- Do not post false or misleading information, especially about elections, health, disasters, communal incidents or public safety. Do not edit photos or video to change what happened.
- Use a real photo of the actual place and time. An old or unrelated picture presented as today's news is misleading.
- Correct or delete your post if you find out it was wrong.
Help requests: blood, missing persons, emergencies
- Post only real, current requests, with the hospital, area and contact the family has agreed to share.
- For a missing person, have the family's consent, and include the police station or FIR number where there is one.
- Mark the post resolved, or delete it, when help has been found. Stale requests waste people's time.
- In an emergency, call 112 first. Short2News is not an emergency service.
Respect people
- No hate: do not attack or demean anyone for their religion, caste, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, language, region or disability.
- No harassment, threats, bullying or pile-ons, and no encouraging others to do it.
- No personal information about others without their consent: phone numbers, addresses, ID documents, or photos of private moments.
- Do not identify victims of sexual offences, or children involved in crimes or legal proceedings. Indian law forbids it.
- Do not pretend to be another person, a journalist, an official or an organisation.
Keep it safe
- Nothing that sexualises children, ever. We remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities.
- No sexual or pornographic content, and no nudity.
- No graphic violence or gore. News of violence can be reported without showing injuries or bodies.
- No support for terrorism or violent groups, and no incitement to violence or to break the law.
- No selling or promoting weapons, drugs, betting, gambling, or anything illegal.
- No content that encourages self-harm or suicide. If you or someone you know is struggling, call Tele-MANAS on 14416, free and available all day, every day.
AI creations
- Do not make or share realistic images, video or voices of a real person without their consent, and never in a sexual or humiliating way.
- Do not present AI-generated content as real news, real footage or a real quote.
- Everything above still applies: an AI creation is your post.
Play fair
- Post only what you have the right to share. Do not re-upload other people's videos, photos or articles. See Copyright & takedown.
- No spam, repeated posts, misleading links, or posts that exist only to advertise.
- No fake accounts, bots, coordinated confirmations, or any other trick to earn coins or reach. Coins earned that way are removed.
When something breaks the rules
Use Report on the post, comment or Short. Reports are private. Depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before, we may:
- remove the content or limit who sees it, and add a warning label;
- add a strike to the account, which can stop it posting Shorts or earning for a time;
- remove coins or earnings that came from the breach;
- suspend or permanently close the account;
- report it to the police or other authorities where the law requires.
We tell you when we remove something you posted and why. If you think we got it wrong, write to the Grievance Officer and a person will review it. A decision that is overturned is reversed in full, including the strike.
