Delete your Short2News account
You can delete your Short2News account and the personal data tied to it at any time, from the app or by email. This page is for the Short2News Android app by Short2News Media Network Pvt. Ltd.
Delete it in the app
- Open Short2News and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap the Profile tab, then the Settings icon at the top right.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm. The account is deleted straight away and you are signed out.
No longer have the app?
Email us from the address on your account, or include the mobile number you signed in with, and ask us to delete it. We confirm it is your account, delete it within 30 days, and reply to tell you it is done.
Before you delete: coins and Shorts earnings you have not withdrawn are lost when the account is deleted, so withdraw them first. Deleting cannot be undone. If you sign in again with the same number or Google account later, you start a new, empty account.
What is deleted and what is kept
Deleted
- Your name, handle, profile photo, banner and bio
- Your mobile number, email and sign-in identity
- Your area, languages, interests and notification settings
- Reading history, bookmarks and Shorty AI conversations
- Saved UPI and bank payout details
- Push notification tokens and every signed-in session
Kept, and why
- Coin, earnings and payout records, for 8 years, because tax and accounting law requires it.
- Moderation and takedown records, for 5 years, under the IT Rules, 2021.
- The record of who uploaded a Short, for 2 years, so a legal request about it can be answered.
- Copies in backups, until the backups are overwritten.
These records are kept only for those purposes and used for nothing else, and nobody can sign in to the account they belonged to. They are deleted when the period ends.
Your posts, comments and Shorts
Public posts that other people have replied to or confirmed stay in place so conversations make sense, but they show Deleted user instead of your name and photo. If you want them removed as well, delete them in the app before you delete your account, or say so in your email and we will remove them.
Delete only some data
- Reading history: Profile → Reading history → clear.
- Shorts interests and watch history: Shorts → your interests → reset.
- A post, comment or Short: open it and choose Delete.
- Location, microphone, notifications: switch the permission off in Android Settings → Apps → Short2News.
- Advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
