Kerala plans Supplyco processing centres to break millers' paddy monopoly

Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob said the government is considering setting up processing centres under Supplyco to end the monopoly of private millers in paddy procurement. He was responding during Question Hour to concerns that private mills were forcing unfair weight deductions on farmers. The move aims to ensure fair pricing and transparent procurement for Kerala's farming community. If implemented, Supplyco would directly handle paddy processing, eliminating exploitative middlemen.
