KPTCL replaces mineral oil with ester oil in Karnataka transformers

KPTCL, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation, will substitute mineral oil with ester oil in its high‑capacity transformers throughout the state. The change targets all high‑capacity units in the state’s electricity network. Ester oil is less flammable and more biodegradable, enhancing safety and environmental compliance. This upgrade aims to lower fire hazards, improve transformer longevity and align with national green energy standards.
