Municipal workers protest against privatisation of services in Vijayawada

Municipal workers in Vijayawada staged a protest demanding the withdrawal of Government Orders 975 and 673, which they say pave the way for privatisation of civic services. The workers warned the model would jeopardise their livelihoods and impose user charges on the public. They urged the Andhra Pradesh government to reconsider the policy and protect municipal jobs from outsourcing.
